The American military will remain deployed near Iran until the full implementation of a “real agreement,” declared US President Donald Trump on Wednesday evening, following the announcement of a fragile two-week ceasefire between the United States and Iran.

“All ships, aircraft, and military personnel, with additional ammunition and weapons, […] will remain in and around Iran until the REAL AGREEMENT reached is fully respected,” he wrote on his Truth Social platform, warning that otherwise, it “will fire harder than anyone has ever seen.” The US president, however, considered it “highly unlikely” that an agreement would not be reached and implemented.

“Meanwhile, our great army is refueling and resting.”

“Meanwhile, our great army is refueling and resting, eagerly awaiting its next conquest in reality. AMERICA IS BACK!” insisted Donald Trump, in all caps, shortly before midnight, Washington time.

The resumption of maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz, a strategic global oil supply route, is a key sticking point in the negotiations set to take place on Friday or Saturday in Pakistan.

“It was agreed a long time ago (…) : no nuclear weapons, and the Strait of Hormuz WILL BE OPEN AND SAFE,” the US president also wrote.
