French President Emmanuel Macron recently concluded a state visit to South Korea, marked by several highlights with major figures in the Korean cultural scene. Through his publications, he displayed his interest in K-culture, a phenomenon that continues to gain international recognition.
On Instagram, the head of state shared a short video accompanied by the caption “Finger Heart” (heart). He is seen taking a selfie with Felix’s phone while the song “Victory Song” by Stray Kids plays in the background. The idol, also an honorary ambassador for the 140th anniversary of relations between France and Korea, thanked the president in French in a simple and friendly sequence.
The president also posted a group photo taken at a cultural banquet before his departure. The picture features several personalities including Jun Ji Hyun, Jeon Jong Seo, Noh Sang Hyun, as well as singer Psy, alongside his wife.
During an official lunch gathering business leaders, including Lee Jae Yong, Emmanuel Macron expressed his commitment to the relationship between the two countries. He cited author Han Kang, referring to “a golden thread connecting our hearts,” to illustrate the bonds between France and Korea over the past 140 years.
This visit, the first by a French president to South Korea in eleven years, also allowed the two nations to affirm their willingness to collaborate more in areas such as artificial intelligence, semiconductors, and nuclear energy.
What do you think of this closeness between political figures and K-culture stars?
