The drone is becoming an important tool for learning and innovation in Pradines. From building inspections to 3D modeling and drone soccer, the Zéphyr-Drone association aims to democratize this demanding hobby.
On a sunny day in Pradines, the drones take flight, creating a buzz with their motors. Nicolas Dubrun, who opened the first drone park in the department in 2023 near Cap Nature, hosted a discovery day. He believes there is more to drones than just recreational photography and videos, and wants to showcase the various uses of drones to people.
Dubrun, who delved into drones seven years ago, incorporates his background in construction into drone inspections and 3D modeling. With over €200,000 invested in his drone activities, he travels across France for his work. He recently completed the modeling of the village of Conques and aspires to work on the Valentré Bridge or Cahors Cathedral.
Through his association Zéphyr-Drone, Dubrun shares his passion with others, including professional photographer and videographer David Leroy, who runs “Eyes Focus.” Together, they educate both young and older enthusiasts on drone technology and regulations.
Drone soccer, a sport where machines compete, is also offered by the association as a team building activity. Inspired by Harry Potter’s Quidditch, this game involves three pilots per team playing three sets of three minutes each.
The drone park is open every Saturday (weather permitting) with mandatory reservations. Sessions range from discovery sessions for €15 per person to basic leisure drone courses for €75 per person. For more advanced users looking to purchase a drone, there are courses available for €220 per person.
Overall, Zéphyr-Drone aims to provide a safe and educational environment for drone enthusiasts, emphasizing the importance of following regulations and safety guidelines.
