After the concert of the music school this Monday, March 30, the musicians of Combloux will meet for a concert with those of Domancy, for a concert at the Tour Carrée this Thursday, April 2 at 6:30 pm. “The concert of the music school was a milestone in their year to showcase the work of their quarter on natural instruments, those found in brass bands. In the first quarter they had studied the piston instruments found in harmonies. This double curriculum is interesting for them. The idea was also to put them back on stage, in front of their audience and their work,” explains Benjamin Felix, the new conductor of the Combloux brass band.

Mixing generations

“The concert on Thursday is a big event. It will bring together the 6 classes of orchestras at the schools of Combloux, Sainte-Marie and Beauregard, who will perform the first part with a program they have worked on with new pieces this quarter.” The rest of the concert will bring together an intergenerational orchestra made up of musicians from Combloux and Saint-Gervais Domancy. “The project is to come together. We each proposed three pieces that we worked on individually and we will finish with a piece in common with all the musicians of the evening. The brass band musicians know each other well but on this evening the important thing is that all generations will intersect, from third graders to the former orchestra members. This still represents 150 musicians if everyone is present.”

The one-hour concert of music (free and open to all) will start at 6:30 pm. The musicians of Combloux will make themselves heard all spring with a shared parade once again with the orchestras at the school on May 8. Then a concert for the Music Festival on June 21 followed the next day by the end-of-year concert of the music school with an open day and the concert of the school orchestras on July 2 at the green theater of the water park. Quite a program!
