The 27th edition of the International Music & Cinema Marseille (MCM) Festival is set to be an exceptional milestone. From March 25 to April 4, 2026, the Artplexe Canebière will be the pulsating heart of a unique event in Europe, at the crossroads of cinema and musical creation for the image.

Born in 1999 in Aubagne, the MCM moved to Marseille in 2022, finding in the Artplexe Canebière a setting that matched its ambitions. With 350 films presented, 30,000 spectators, over 1,000 professionals from around the world, and 70 represented countries, the festival has established itself as the European reference for musical composition for the image. This artistic policy is championed by the association Alcimé, which has always supported emerging young talents, cultural diversity, and education in image.

The festival brings together a prestigious lineup:

– Romane Bohringer, guest of honor, an emblematic figure of French cinema – Steven Price, award-winning British composer – Veerle Baetens, a prominent actress and director in Belgian cinema – Jérémie Renier, presenting “D’un monde à l’autre,” a poignant tribute to Gaspard Ulliel

Opening the festival is the premiere of “Vivaldi et moi” by Damiano Michieletto, featuring music by Fabio Massimo Capogrosso. Set in 18th century Venice, the film tells the story of a young prodigious violinist whose life is changed by the arrival of Antonio Vivaldi. A piece where music becomes an act of resistance and self-discovery.

The 2026 selection includes 10 feature films from 13 countries and 57 short films from 26 countries, all presented in their original subtitled versions. The jury for feature films includes renowned personalities such as composers Erwann Kermorvant (Grand Prix Sacem 2021) and Clément Ducol (Oscar and Golden Globe winner for “Emilia Pérez”), screenwriter and director Emma Benestan, and producer Jérôme Paillard.

In addition to competitions, MCM 2026 offers a diverse program open to all:

– Cinema-concerts, including a family show around animation – Closing cinema-concert at La Criée – National Theater of Marseille – A spotlight on the label Chinese Man Records – DJ sets at the Blum Canebière – Masterclasses on musical composition for the image – Over 3,000 students gathered for school screenings

Six days of cinematic-musical convergences, catering to all audiences and ages.
