LFH (20th day). Brest BH – Saint-Amand, this Wednesday (8:00 pm)

The visit of Saint-Amand this Wednesday is not an Everest to climb for Brest BH. Even though they have done well this season with a 4th place and 44 points, the Louves (nickname for the players) are not expected to bother the Brestoises. The wide victory (18-31) in the first match reminds of the gap between these two teams.

Eighteen days without a match after Saint-Amand

The means and ambitions are not the same in Finistere as in the North: Brest has been playing in the top roles for about ten years, dreaming even of the Final Four of the Champions League, while Saint-Amand simply hopes to confirm its place in the French national elite handball.

However, this match has a double sporting interest for the BBH players. The first being to maintain their unbeaten record in the championship and continue their quest for the title; the second is to prepare for the three big upcoming events at the end of the season: the Champions League quarter-final against Bistrita (see opposite), on April 18 and 26, and then the trip to Metz in early May, announced final of LFH. Especially since between this match against Saint-Amand and the double clash against the Romanian championship leader, eighteen days without an official match will pass due to a new international break.

“Take references that can help us”

So this Wednesday, it is “about taking references that can help us against Bistrita”, says Raphaëlle Tervel. “We want to make the most of every minute. We want to use this meeting to put things in place,” says the Brest coach, aware that her players are already focused on this European meeting. “We feel it approaching and there is more and more demand in training. Everyone is very involved and focused on what we want to achieve,” explains the coach, who will have Méline Nocandy back but could be without Clarisse Mairot (ankle) and Juliette Faure (heel). An assessment will be made for these two players during the warm-up this Wednesday.
