“Enemy drone attacks on Moscow have continued over the past twenty-four hours. One of the drones damaged the site of a Moscow oil refinery. There were no casualties”declared the mayor of the Russian capital, Sergei Sobyanin, on social networks.

According to him, Russian forces intercepted 60 drones targeting Moscow during the night from Monday to Tuesday. According to a tally by the state news agency Tass, based on data published by the Russian Defense Ministry, this is one of the largest attacks of the year on the capital.

“This time, the Moscow region felt the reach of Ukraine’s long-range strike capabilities. An oil refinery was hit from a distance of 500 km”declared Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on X. He described this attack as “fair response to Russian strikes”the day after a new wave of bombings of Moscow which left at least 11 dead.

Russia continues to strike Ukraine almost daily, more than four years after the start of the war. Ukraine has also intensified its strikes on Russian territory, sometimes very far from the border, particularly targeting hydrocarbon transport and storage infrastructure in an attempt to dry up Moscow’s ability to finance its war effort.
