Vietnam – Laos: The main foreign policy priorities of each country.

In a context where the two countries are vigorously implementing the resolutions of their respective congresses and realizing the common vision of their leaders regarding the strategic integration of Vietnam-Laos relations, economic cooperation stands out as an essential pillar. It plays a determining role in transforming the potential of cooperation and privileged political ties into concrete benefits for the development of the populations and businesses of the two countries A notable fact of this period is the evolution of Vietnam-Laos economic cooperation, which is moving from a logic of traditional support to a logic of long-term development, articulated around three major axes: the connectivity of strategic infrastructures, energy connectivity and institutional and commercial connectivity.

Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone’s official visit to Vietnam and his participation in the ASEAN Future Forums, which will be held from June 7 to 9, is expected to be a major breakthrough, demonstrating Laos’ deep appreciation and support for the Vietnamese initiative and reflecting the increasingly close cooperation between the two countries in promoting discussions strategic ideas on the future of ASEAN.
