Trump practices diplomacy as he conducts his personal affairs. Since the start of his second term, United States foreign policy has been carried out directly by a president who bypasses or ignores traditional diplomatic institutions and channels. His Truth Social network is used for his public statements. His telephone is used to call foreign heads of state directly.
Fifteen years ago, WikiLeaks revealed, in addition to some embarrassing secrets, the quality and extent of American diplomacy. These experts have been marginalized. Instead of the diplomatic network and foreign policy specialists, the president relies on a small circle of loyalists, one of the common points of which is the complete absence of experience in the field of international relations.
