The child prodigy will soon return home. While he is currently in Japan to contest the seventh round of the World Rally Championship, M-Sport has announced that Irish driver Josh McErlean will be at the start of the next Donegal International Rally in Ireland, a round counting towards the national Asphalt championship. The event will take place on June 19, 20 and 21, will already be the fifth round of the calendar, and is historically one of the most anticipated events of the year there. Fans will have to get their money’s worth, since in addition to Josh McErlean, who will participate in the event in a Ford Fiesta Rally2, the entry list, not yet officially revealed at the moment, should also count on the presence of Kris Meeke, reigning Portuguese vice-Champion facing Dani Sordo in addition to his important international rankings.

M-Sport sends its protégés back across the Channel

This is not the first time that M-Sport has sent its protégés to national championships, especially in Great Britain. Already in 2023, Adrien Fourmaux and Alexandre Coria also took part in the British Rally Championship alongside their WRC2 season, a championship which they largely won by winning the five races in which they started. Josh McErlean’s last appearance on a national event in Ireland, however, is not that old and dates back to 2025, since the driver of the #55 Ford Puma Rally1 in the World Cup had won the Jeremy O’Connor Longford Arms Hotel Stages Rally aboard a Ford Fiesta Rally2, which was then only his third appearance with Eoin Tracy in as co-pilot. While M-Sport has already confirmed that they will compete in Rally2 next year in the WRC, all the kilometers logged before the deadline will not be too much…

@autohebdo.mag🚨 A new car from 2028? This is the plan for M-Sport 🤩 Richard Millener, at the head of the British team, confirmed it to us yesterday while specifying that it will perhaps not be a Ford…
