U2 is preparing a new festive album for the fall and a world tour in 2027

The U2 group is set to make a sensation with a new album from the fall onwards, followed by a major world tour scheduled for 2027. First details about their highly anticipated return.

Ah, U2… Impossible to mention rock legends without talking about this Irish quartet. Led by the charismatic voice of Bono, the group has established itself as one of the major must-sees in rock history, accumulating worldwide hits, massive concerts, and committed stances. After leaving a mark with their ultra-modern residency at the Las Vegas Sphere in 2023 and 2024, and a full tour in 2019, the group recently surprised with a political EP, “Days of Ash”. But, as the global news remains concerning, U2 is preparing for their big comeback: a new album from the fall, an international tour from 2027, and a promise of contagious celebration. Can both longtime fans and new generations already tremble with excitement? Everything seems to indicate so.

U2 prepares a new album for the fall: festive atmosphere to overcome morosity

While their last true studio album, “Songs of Experience,” dates back to 2017, U2 is gearing up for a strong comeback with a record release as early as next fall. According to recent reports, this new album should come out around September or October, fueled by an impressive array of creations. “We have over 25 songs in progress,” confides Bono, specifying that not all of them will be on this first record, but should influence the group’s future over the next years.

The atmosphere desired by the singer seems markedly different: “The album we’re working on has a very different musical atmosphere and themes, a truly joyful atmosphere to face this anxious period… almost a carnival atmosphere,” explains Bono in an interview with their internal magazine. While current events bring their share of concerns, the group intends, more than ever, to generate good energy and camaraderie during their upcoming recordings. The goal, clearly stated, is to rekindle in the audience that popular fervor that made U2 famous. Bono specifies that they intend to “try to find this carnival atmosphere in [their] audience, in order to be able to mutually show not only where [they are] right now, but also where [they] want to go.” According to him, we can expect something joyful, festive, and empowering.

This new opus will take over from “Days of Ash,” released by surprise. This politically engaged EP of six songs openly discusses current conflicts, particularly in Palestine, Ukraine, and Iran. An unprecedented collaboration with Ed Sheeran electrifies this project, proving that the group is not afraid to embrace other universes to convey their messages.

A global stadium tour from 2027: the first dates and ambitions of the group

On the scenic front, U2 has lost none of its appetite. A huge world tour will mark their return, with a first set of concerts from 2027. The tour promises to be phenomenal, probably starting in South America before moving to Europe during the summer.

Four dates are already reserved at the legendary Croke Park in Dublin, the group’s homeland – a return to their roots that promises to attract immense crowds. Among the other targeted stages: the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, immense and exuberant stadiums vibrating to the sound of timeless anthems as well as new songs to come. According to initial clues, the ticket sales could start as early as autumn, hinting at massive enthusiasm and meticulous logistics.

The energy deployed on stage will undoubtedly live up to expectations: “We can’t always let the bad news drown out the good news of waking up in the morning and being together in the same place,” hints Bono, a true master of ceremonies.

Should we expect a long scenic adventure? It is rumored that the tour could be extended until 2028, as both the group’s appetite and the audience’s thirst seem aligned. For fans of oversized shows, this new opus and series of concerts already appear to be the musical event of the upcoming decade.
