Before the international athletics meeting, the track was treated to a refreshment in Forbach. On May 31, international athletes will compete at the Schlossberg stadium. Before that, work was carried out on the track by a specialist company.
Sound No. 1 – Before the International Meeting, the athletics track brought up to standard
The attractiveness of Forbach lies in particular through sport! This is why Mayor Alexandre Cassarowanted to invest in the athletics track.
We called on a company that specializes in the field, and this represented a cost for the community of €27,000. We have a double ambition: to continue to have a successful, competitive club throughout the year and to continue to have a Meeting which allows sport to be promoted in Forbach.
More than 200 international athletes will be present in a few days and will be able to inaugurate the track. The refresh was carried out by the company Polytan and Thomas Gernon, the works manager.
It took us about 2 weeks. So it’s first a big deep cleaning of the track because with the weather and other things it gets dirty. Once it is completely cleaned, we do retracing, so there is a surveyor expert who comes, who puts the points all over the track for us so that we can take the lines correctly.
The new layouts were made to the millimeter so that the track meets the new standards. A necessity, according to Pascal Schuler, president of US Forbach Athletics.
There were changes to the regulations and we took the opportunity to update the tracking. We also took the opportunity to do the race reversal, which will allow us at the meeting to run in both directions, and to run with the favorable wind.
Everything is ready for the event on May 31 and for local athletes to train in the best possible conditions.
