“Serve through friendship”, police officers from the International Police Association gathered in Gard to share their values ​​of solidarity

Police officers from different countries, members of the International Police Association, meet for a few days in Villeneuve-lès-Avignon, to visit Gard and Vaucluse and share moments of conviviality.

Around sixty members of the International Police Association (IPA) are staying until May 26 in Villeneuve-lès-Avignon, where they are staying at the Île des Papes campsite.

The IPA is a global NGO whose motto is: “Serve through friendship”. Created in 1953 by an English police officer, France also being one of the three founding countries, it is today represented in 69 countries and has nearly 360,000 members. It is a network of sharing, mutual aid, solidarity, and conviviality between members of the police, active or retired, whatever the rank or function, from the ranks of the national police, the gendarmerie, the municipal police, customs, and the transport police. The international meeting in the Cardinal city is the seventh organized by the Gard-Hérault delegation of the NGO.

In her welcoming words, the president, Claire Palisse, immediately set the tone of the spirit that animates the participants: “I have the feeling of being in a cousin group where we have the pleasure of getting together and meeting new members of the family: our big and beautiful IPA family”. A family where we speak from the heart and the human being is at the center of concerns.

Police officers also came from the United States and Kuwait

Thirteen countries are represented in Villeneuve-lès-Avignon, most of them from the European Union but also Switzerland, the United States and Kuwait. The Gard-Hérault delegation has concocted a rich program of discoveries, punctuated by exchanges and moments of conviviality, between Gard and Vaucluse with visits to Villeneuve-lès-Avignon, the Pont du Gard, Nîmes, Avignon, Isle-sur-la-Sorgue and Gordes.
