The 17th edition of the International Garden Festival will present 12 new creations in the heart of Hortillonnages, from May 22 to October 11, 2026.
The Art & Gardens association | Hauts-de-France announces the holding of the 17th edition of the International Garden Festival | Hortillonnages Amiens, which will take place from May 22 to October 11, 2026. This annual event, which has become an unmissable event for lovers of art and landscaping, is enriched this year with twelve new creations. It invites the public to a poetic and reflective immersion in the heart of an exceptional natural site, at the crossroads of nature, agriculture and heritage.
A dialogue between contemporary creation and natural heritage
The festival honors young creation by inviting landscapers, visual artists and architects, selected following an international call for projects, to design ephemeral works. These installations take place on islets within the Hortillonnages, a unique landscape of floating gardens intertwined with canals, shaped over the centuries by market gardening activity.
Artists are invited to take a new look at this territory and to question the major contemporary issues. Their creations explore essential themes such as the preservation of biodiversity, water management and the fragility of ecosystems, transforming the visit into a meditation on our relationship with nature and the cycles of life.
Twelve new works to discover
For this 17th edition, the public will be able to discover a varied panel of twelve new projects: five plastic works, six landscape works as well as a project designed by a student. This renewed journey promises sensitive experiences and new visual discoveries.
Exploring the festival is divided into two complementary experiences. Visitors can opt for a walk on the Ile aux Fagots, accessible from Amiens, or choose a contemplative discovery by boat on the Clermont pond, departing from the town of Camon. Each mode of visit offers a different perspective on the works and their integration into the landscape.
Un événement salué à l’échelle européenne
Since its launch in 2010, the festival has acquired a solid reputation in France and internationally. In more than sixteen years, the event has produced more than 230 gardens and installations, called on the talent of more than 350 artists and welcomed more than 680,000 visitors.
This dynamic was confirmed in 2024 by obtaining the prestigious European Garden Award, which rewarded the festival with the prize for the most beautiful contemporary European park and garden. A distinction which salutes the originality and quality of an event which intimately links contemporary art to the promotion of a unique natural and historical heritage.
