Finland easily defeated the United States 6-2 on the 4th day of the World Championship in Switzerland. Canada, favorite of the competition, waited until the last third to make the difference against Denmark 5-1.

Beaten from the start by Switzerland on Friday, the Americans conceded a second defeat in three outings on Monday. Against the defending champion, New Jersey Devils striker Lenni Hameenaho delivered a great match with a double (7th/22nd) and a decisive pass, allowing Finland to lead 5-1 after 40 minutes. While waiting for the confrontation between Switzerland and Germany (Monday at 8:20 p.m.), the Finns take the lead in Group A.

Le Canada en tête du groupe B

In Group B, Canada and Denmark waited until the last period to decide. But the maple leaf team was able to count on its detonators Macklin Celebrini (2 decisive passes) and Sidney Crosby (3 assists) to break the deadlock.

The Canadians took cover in just 3’33 in the final third, where they shook Nicolaj Henriksen’s net three times to secure the victory. They are alone at the head of the group thanks to this 3rd victory in three matches (9 points) in this World Cup.

In the evening, the Czechs won 4-3 against Sweden thanks to a great start, with them already leading 3-0 after 13 minutes. Defeated in overtime against Slovenia on Saturday, the Czech Republic raised its head and climbed to 2nd place, two lengths behind the Canadian leader.
