A new escalation in the conflict? Russia on Thursday, June 18, threatened Ukraine with new “massive strikes” against its military installations after the large-scale Ukrainian attack on the Moscow region.

The most significant attack in two years

These bombings come at a crucial moment for Vladimir Putin. Indeed, the Russian president is welcoming several senior Asian leaders for a summit in Kazan, 800 kilometers east of Moscow. The discussions concern in particular the continuation of deliveries of Russian hydrocarbons to Asia.

The attack on this refinery constitutes a “fully justified response to Russian attacks on our cities and our communities,” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky declared on social networks.

At least 17 people, including two children, were injured in the Moscow region during these bombings, according to the regional governor.
