Securing mobile connectivity on NATO’s eastern flank
MONTRÉAL, June 16, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Marconi Technologies and Polish defense systems integrator Enamor International have been selected to supply the Polish Army with high-capacity Orion communications compatible with 5G. Deliveries, which will be spread over several years, will begin during this year.
This contract, which directly supports Poland’s defense investment priorities under the European Union’s “Acting for the Security of Europe” (SAFE) instrument, helps accelerate the country’s military modernization on NATO’s eastern flank.
The Orion X650 is a sixth-generation, software-defined tactical radio designed to provide high-speed communications in hostile environments. This tactical radio is suitable for missions requiring high frequency agility and high survivability, both on the move and in the event of a sudden stop. Featuring four radio frequency connectors, it can be configured as either two independent radio channels to replace two networked radios, or as a single channel supporting 4×4 multiple input multiple output (MIMO) technology to optimize performance and resiliency. Its robust design ensures reliable operation in the air, on land and at sea.
For the Polish Defense Forces, the Orion dispersed, while ensuring resilience in the face of electronic warfare threats.
“Poland’s commitment to developing sovereign and resilient defense capabilities aligns with the vision of our Canada-based company,†said Alain Cohen, Managing Director of Marconi Technologies. “The choice of our Polish partner, Enamor International, for the delivery of the Orion X650 to the eastern flank of NATO does not come down to a simple collaboration between two companies in order to win a contract; it is proof that allies sharing the same values, who invest seriously in their own defense, can find real partners within the different industrial fabrics. »
