Time for the 5th edition of the Arcus forum organized from June 4 to 6, at the Pont du Gard! Armies, security forces and emergency services will present their professions and career opportunities. A meeting which intends to strengthen the link between the army and the nation.
The meeting is now well established and awaited. From Thursday June 4 to Saturday June 6, the Pont du Gard site will host the fifth edition of the Arcus forum, dedicated to defense and security professions. The event was presented this Monday morning in Nîmes, at the headquarters of the 6th Light Armored Brigade.
“This is the 5th edition of this forum for defense and security professions and the second edition organized in Pont-du-Gard. The objective is to continue to move upmarket,” immediately announces General Steve Carleton, commander of the 6th BLB, head of the Nîmes-Laudun-Larzac defense base and departmental military delegate for Gard.
Nearly 300 recruitments per year in Gard
“The objective of such an event is to promote the institution in order to raise awareness of defense and security professions,” underlines the general. A major challenge as the Army recruits nearly 16,000 people each year and the annual needs of the armies reach between 20,000 and 25,000 recruitments nationally.
As for the choice of Pont du Gard, this is not insignificant. “It is an emblematic site of the department, but it is also a bridge with young people,” said General Carleton. The objective is to allow young people to discover the diversity of possible career paths in the armies and security services. In Gard, the armies alone represent around 300 recruitments per year.

Beyond youth, the forum also intends to address the economic world. From Thursday June 4 at 5 p.m., a conference dedicated to management will bring together several hundred business leaders. Led by Guillaume de Sercey, former colonel of the Army and ex-officer of the Foreign Legion, it will address command methods and their application in the business world.
Highlight the great diversity of professions
The evening will continue with a performance of music from the Foreign Legion at 6:45 p.m. then, at 7:45 p.m., with the ceremony of awarding white kepis to the young legionnaires in training in Castelnaudary, symbol of their integration into the Legion.
The heart of the forum will officially open its doors on Friday from 10 a.m. after an inauguration scheduled for 9:30 a.m. In total, on the right bank of Pont-du-Gard, 42 exhibitors will be present. Army, National Navy, Air and Space Force, Foreign Legion, National Gendarmerie, National Police, SDIS 30, Civil Security and even the prison administration will present their missions and their possibilities of engagement. Several regiments established in the region, including the 4th RMAT, the 503rd Train Regiment, the 2nd REI or the 1st REG, will also be represented.
Demonstrations, presentations of equipment, discussions and meetings…
Demonstrations, presentations of equipment, discussions with professionals, discovery of dog units, technical and scientific police or rescue resources… a rich program in short. Among the highlights announced are also the flyover of a Dauphin helicopter and passages of Civil Security planes. But the event is also part of a policy initiated by the Armed Forces for several years, particularly in an uncertain geopolitical context. Objective ? Strengthen ties between armies and nation
