A missile falls into the heart of the Ukrainian capital. All night from May 23 to 24, kyiv is shelled. From his apartment, a man films. He narrowly escapes a strike. The residents take refuge in the basements. Parking, metro, but even here, security is not guaranteed.”People in the subway started running further inside, deeper, trying to hide. It was unclear whether the fire would spread to the metro station or whether smoke would enter. So it was a really terrifying night.” confides a Ukrainian woman.

600 drones and 90 missiles bombarded kyiv and its region, causing numerous fires. Moscow claims to have only targeted targets linked to the Ukrainian army and claims the use of an orechnik, a hypersonic missile. Faced with an attack of such magnitude which left four dead and around a hundred injured, some residents decided to flee. “I’m really sorry to have to say goodbye to kyiv. I can’t stay there anymore, it’s impossible. I lost my job, everything is up in smoke” says a resident.

The Russians claim these attacks on kyiv, in response to Ukrainian strikes carried out two days ago in a region occupied by Moscow. The Kremlin claims that it was a high school and that 21 civilians died there. Ukraine, for its part, maintains that it was targeting a command of the Russian army.
