The Israeli army struck a bridge used by the pro-Iranian Hezbollah movement, raising concerns of a possible ground invasion, according to Lebanese President Joseph Aoun. The attack targeted the Qasmiyeh bridge on the main coastal road connecting the region of Tyre to the rest of the country.

President Aoun condemned the targeting and destruction of vital infrastructure by Israel, calling it a dangerous escalation and a blatant violation of Lebanon’s sovereignty. Israel’s Defense Minister, Israel Katz, previously ordered the immediate destruction of all bridges over the Litani River to prevent Hezbollah’s activities.

Israeli army chief of staff Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir warned of intensified ground operations and strikes in Lebanon, stating that the operation against Hezbollah is just beginning and is a long-term endeavor.

The ongoing war between the two countries has resulted in casualties, with recent incidents including rocket attacks from Lebanon and Israeli retaliatory actions. Israel continues its campaign against Hezbollah, conducting airstrikes and advancing on the ground in a buffer zone along the border, causing civilian casualties and displacements.

Hezbollah claimed responsibility for targeting Israeli soldiers with rocket attacks, retaliating against Israeli-American strikes in Tehran. Israel vowed to accelerate the destruction of Lebanese homes in border villages to protect Israeli communities from threats.

Recent Israeli airstrikes in southern Lebanon were reported by the Lebanese news agency, including strikes in strategic locations like Khiam and Naqoura, as well as ground clashes between Hezbollah fighters and Israeli soldiers. The Israeli army announced the killing of a high-ranking Hezbollah commander during the clashes.
