Set fire to the Barakah nuclear power plant in Emirates

A fire broke out on Sunday near the Barakah nuclear power plant in the United Arab Emirates after a drone strike.

According to the Emirati authorities, three drones penetrated the country’s airspace via the western border. Two were intercepted, while a third hit a power generator near the nuclear site. No injuries or increase in radioactivity have been reported.

The Director General of the IAEA, Rafael Grossi, expressed his « profonde préoccupation “, judging « inacceptable » any military activity threatening nuclear safety.

“No concrete concession” from Washington to the Iranian offer

Iranian media say the United States has not granted “No concrete concession” in their response to Iranian proposals on the nuclear issue.

According to the Fars agency, Washington demands in particular that Iran maintain a single active nuclear site and transfer its stock of enriched uranium to the United States. The Iranian authorities also criticize Washington for not having agreed to release part of the Iranian assets frozen abroad.

Netanyahu says Israel is close to achieving its goals

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Sunday that Israel was close to eliminating all those responsible for the October 7 attacks.

The Israeli army announced on Saturday the death of Ezzedine Al-Haddad, presented as a commander of the armed wing of Hamas, during a strike in Gaza.

Iran strengthens strategic ties with China

The President of the Iranian Parliament, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Tehran’s main negotiator in discussions with Washington, was put in charge of relations with China, according to Iranian media.

This decision illustrates the growing rapprochement between Tehran and Beijing in the context of the regional conflict.

New Israeli strikes in Lebanon

Israel carried out a series of strikes on southern Lebanon on Saturday despite the recent extension of the truce.

According to the official Lebanese agency ANI, around twenty villages were affected. An Israeli soldier was also killed in southern Lebanon, bringing to 21 the number of Israeli soldiers dead on this front since March.

The American aircraft carrier Gerald Ford returns to the United States

The American aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford (CVN-78) returned to the United States on Saturday after a 326-day mission in the Middle East, the longest for an American carrier strike group since the Vietnam War.
