On Sunday, May 10, American President Donald Trump deemed Iran’s response to the American proposal to end the war “totally unacceptable.”

Requirements in response to American proposals. Iran requested this Monday, May 11

the end of the war

throughout the region, including Lebanon, and the

unblocking of frozen Iranian assets,

according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“The only thing we demanded,

these are the legitimate rights of Iran”,

declared the ministry’s spokesperson, Esmaïl Baghaï, during a weekly press briefing, while American President Donald Trump deemed the Iranian response “totally unacceptable”. Tehran demands in particular

“the end of the war in the region”, the lifting of the American blockade of Iranian ports and “the release of assets

belonging to the Iranian people, who have been unjustly blocked for years,” he said. “Any interference in the Strait of Hormuz would only

further complicate the situation”,

added Esmaïl Baghaï, insisting, to the attention of European countries, that possible involvement in this “crisis would certainly not bring them

no bénéfice”.

The United Kingdom and France are trying to set up

an international coalition

aimed at securing this strategic strait for oil exports, after a settlement of the conflict. The defense ministers of these two countries will co-chair a videoconference meeting on Tuesday with around forty of their country counterparts

ready to contribute to such a mission,

announced London. On Friday, the head of American diplomacy Marco Rubio called on the Europeans to come to the aid in the strait subject to control by Iran and a blockade of Iranian ports by the United States.

Iran’s capabilities could be under pressure, media reports

Furthermore, the spokesperson for the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs

denied this Monday the allegations of possible leaks

of Iranian oil installations in the Gulf, due to saturated storage capacities. They are “fabricated from scratch”, he said, adding that Tehran was generally “very concerned about the environmental damage” in the area.

Certain media, including the American channel

Fox News,

ont suggéré que

Iran’s capabilities could be under pressure,

the American naval blockade disrupting the country’s ability to export or store crude. In recent days, satellite images appeared to show an oil slick, the cause of which was unknown, off the island of Kharg, the main Iranian oil terminal, through which 90% of the Islamic Republic’s crude normally passes.
