Luxury shops in Paris are once again being targeted. On Monday, May 4th, in the middle of the afternoon, a luxury establishment in the 8th arrondissement of Paris specializing in the sale of watches fell victim to an armed robbery.
According to Le Parisien, two masked individuals armed with handguns entered a shop on Rue de Miromesnil. Around ten watches were reportedly stolen, amounting to an estimated loss of 150,000 euros.
One of the robbers has been apprehended. An investigation has been opened for “armed robbery by an organized gang and death threats” and entrusted to the Banditry Repression Brigade, as reported by Le Parisien.
The Paris prosecutor’s office has specified the robbers’ modus operandi: one of them entered the shop “posing as a customer, before brandishing a handgun and firing a shot into the wall”, and then proceeded to steal the watches.
The robber then “dragged the salesperson into the entrance, mistreated them, and escaped on a scooter with an accomplice waiting at the exit”.
The Parisian media outlet adds that one of the two robbers was arrested in Asnières-sur-Seine (Hauts-de-Seine) on Monday after a traffic accident with his accomplice against a truck. The second robber fled and is still being sought.
