The situation on the southern front in Lebanon on Saturday saw an escalation of Israeli airstrikes and artillery shelling, as well as a new evacuation order issued for several locations.

The Lebanese Health Ministry reported a total of 2,659 deaths and 8,183 injuries since March 2, with 41 more fatalities and 89 injuries in the last 24 hours.

According to the Israeli newspaper “Israel Hayom,” senior Israeli military officers believe the situation on the northern border is now “far more serious than the eve of the war.”

The Israeli army ordered the evacuation of nine villages in southern Lebanon, near Nabatiyeh, following deadly airstrikes.

Israeli Defense Forces spokesperson Avichay Adraee urged residents to move at least 1,000 meters away from their homes in these areas.

In the Yaroun region of southern Lebanon, Israeli forces conducted operations to target Hezbollah infrastructures, inadvertently damaging a building in a religious complex.

Israeli forces claimed to have destroyed approximately 120 “terrorist” targets belonging to Hezbollah in southern Lebanon, including command centers and weapon storages.

Israeli forces also intercepted a rocket launched by Hezbollah towards their troops in southern Lebanon.

The clashes continued with airstrikes and artillery shelling hitting various villages in Bint Jbeil, Tyr, and Nabatiyeh in Lebanon.

Additionally, drone strikes targeted military equipment and personnel in the region.

The situation further escalated with night attacks causing casualties and substantial destruction in various locations.

In response to Israeli actions, Hezbollah claimed to have targeted Israeli troops with explosive drones in Bayyada village.

On the ground, airstrikes and artillery continued in different parts of southern Lebanon, resulting in multiple casualties and significant damage.

The clashes intensified amid a fragile ceasefire between pro-Iranian Hezbollah and Israel, which has been in effect since mid-April.

Israeli forces defended their actions by citing self-defense against planned or ongoing attacks, a provision disputed by Hezbollah.

The developments reflect the ongoing tensions between Lebanon and Israel, with both sides resorting to military actions to assert control in the region.
