Iran presented a new offer on Friday, May 1, in an effort to resume negotiations with the United States, currently at a standstill, to permanently end the war, as announced by the official Iranian news agency IRNA.

“The Islamic Republic transmitted its latest proposal text to Pakistan on Thursday, the mediator in discussions with the United States,” the agency said without providing further details.

A ceasefire has been in effect since April 8, after nearly 40 days of Israeli-American airstrikes on Iran and Tehran’s retaliations in the region, with peace talks ongoing. Only one session of discussions was held on April 11 in Pakistan, but it ended in failure. The Strait of Hormuz remains under the control of Iranian armed forces, while Washington maintains its blockade of Iranian ports.

Earlier this week, Tehran made an offer that was rejected by Donald Trump. According to a report from the American site Axios, as relayed by the official Iranian news agency IRNA, Iran intended to postpone further discussions on the nuclear issue.

This issue is crucial for the United States and Israel, who accuse Iran of seeking to acquire nuclear weapons – a claim Iran denies. As part of the ongoing negotiations, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi spoke by phone on Friday with his counterparts from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Turkey, Iraq, and Azerbaijan to discuss the latest “initiatives of the Islamic Republic aimed at ending the war,” according to a statement from the ministry.
