IRGC warns US against any attack on its vessels

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (CGRI) has warned the United States against any attacks on its ships.

The CGRI navy issued a statement on Saturday, May 9, cautioning that any “aggression” against Iranian oil tankers and commercial ships would result in a violent retaliation against one of the US military bases in the region and against “enemy” ships.

The warnings come in the midst of sporadic clashes between Iran and the US in and around the Strait of Hormuz on Thursday, May 7, and Friday, May 8. Iran has tightened control over the strait since February 28, when it banned ships belonging to Israel and the US or affiliated with those countries from passing through, following joint strikes by the two countries on Iranian territory.

The US has also imposed a naval blockade on the strait, preventing ships to and from Iranian ports from transiting through the waterway. The American military has targeted several Iranian ships and oil tankers in recent days.

In another message on social media platform X, the CGRI Aerospace division stated that its missiles and drones had locked their targets on US assets in the region and on ships of “the aggressive enemy.”

“We are awaiting the order to fire,” they added.
