The United States have struck “military installations” in several Iranian ports in the Strait of Hormuz, on the night of Thursday 7 to Friday 8 May 2026, as confirmed by the US army, after three of its warships were allegedly attacked by Iran while crossing the Strait of Hormuz.
“The American forces intercepted unprovoked Iranian attacks and retaliated with offensive strikes as missile-carrying destroyers of the US Navy crossed the Strait of Hormuz towards the Gulf on May 7,” wrote Centcom, the US Central Command for the Middle East on X, adding that it involved “missiles, drones, and small boats.”
The US army “neutralized threats and targeted Iranian military facilities responsible for the attacks against American forces, including missile and drone launch sites, command and control centers, and intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance bases,” specified Centcom.
