On average, 39% for, 58% against: Americans are increasingly skeptical of what used to be Donald Trump’s flagship, his ability to revive the economy. In the United States, seven out of 10 people feel that their financial situation is worsening and getting worse with the spike in gasoline prices linked to the war in Iran.
Certainly, the American president can still count on the hardcore of his party. The vast majority of Republican voters still support him. But he is losing independents, a decisive segment of the electorate, which will weigh heavily in the upcoming midterm elections in November.
Only about a third of these independents trust him. On border control and immigration policy, one of the White House’s favorite themes, the polls’ approval remains higher. But it has decreased due to his policy of mass deportations and the deadly raids by ICE agency in Minnesota.
