Nicolas de Tavernost is expected to quickly bounce back after his future departure from LFP Media. According to Ouest-France, the current general manager of the commercial subsidiary of the LFP is poised to become the chairman of the board of Stade Rennais.
Stade Rennais is preparing to turn a new page in its organizational chart. While Guillaume Cerruti has been serving as chairman of the board since October 2025, his departure, announced in March for the end of the season, is now imminent. To succeed him, Nicolas de Tavernost’s name is strongly favored. His official departure from LFP Media is expected to happen at the end of the week, but his future seems to be taking shape in Brittany.
According to consistent information from Ouest-France and L’Équipe, a board meeting of the Rennes club is scheduled for Tuesday, May 26 to formalize this governance evolution. Nicolas de Tavernost would thus become the direct representative of the Pinault family, the owner of the Breton club, in a structure where he would work closely with Arnaud Pouille, the recently appointed executive chairman of the Breton club.
A Experienced Figure in French Football and Media
Nicolas de Tavernost’s profile brings a strong strategic dimension. A key figure in the French audiovisual landscape for several decades, he led the M6 group, a former owner of Girondins de Bordeaux from 1999 to 2018.
More recently, Nicolas de Tavernost held the position of general manager of LFP Media, the entity responsible for the commercial and audiovisual development of French football. He notably oversaw the launch of the Ligue 1+ broadcasting platform, a major project in the league’s media strategy.
