The English press announced on Monday that Pep Guardiola will be leaving the Manchester City bench at the end of the season. Since arriving in July 2016, the Spanish coach has won everything, totaling twenty trophies in his cabinet, establishing himself as one of the greatest managers in Premier League history.

A League Cup, an FA Cup, and maybe one last championship title… Pep Guardiola will bid farewell to the Premier League and Manchester City at the end of the season, unanimously reported by the English press on Monday evening. A huge chapter closes for the man who won everything with “the other” Manchester club: six league titles, a Champions League, three FA Cups, five League Cups, three Community Shields, a UEFA Super Cup, and a Club World Cup. That’s twenty trophies in just ten years since taking over the bench on July 1, 2016.

Maresca favorite to succeed him

For the past few days, rumors of his departure had been growing, even though the Catalan manager still had a year left on his contract, until June 2027, with City. As of now, the club has not made any comments, but the match of the 38th round of the Premier League, against Aston Villa on Sunday, is expected to be his last at the Etihad.

Regarding his successor, the New York Times mentions Enzo Maresca as the top candidate to take over the reins of the Cityzens. The Italian coach was released by Chelsea on January 1st, just a few months after winning the Club World Cup with the London club.
