After 2 years of absence, the Blues will return to Bordeaux in the fall of 2026. The French Football Federation officially announced on Tuesday the holding of a France – Turkey match at Matmut Atlantique on Sunday, November 15, as part of the group stage of the 2026-2027 Nations League.
The Blues return to the Atlantique stadium in Bordeaux
The last visit of the French team to Bordeaux dates back to June 9, 2024. Didier Deschamps’ men then faced Canada in a pre-Euro match at a sold-out Atlantique stadium.
This new match against Turkey will mark the 7th meeting in the history of the Blues in the city of Bordeaux. A choice made by Philippe Diallo, president of the FFF, who wants to see the French team “get as close as possible to the supporters” all over the country.
A decisive match in the Nations League
Before this Bordeaux rendezvous, the schedule includes: Turkey – France on September 25, Belgium – France on September 28, France – Italy on October 2 at the Stade de France, France – Belgium on October 5 at the Stade de France, Italy – France on November 12 and France – Turkey on November 15 in Bordeaux. This last match could be decisive for the qualification of the Blues in the competition.
The first steps of Zinedine Zidane on the Blues’ bench?
This Bordeaux match could also have a special flavor. After the 2026 World Cup, Didier Deschamps is expected to leave his position as coach, and Zinedine Zidane appears to be the top candidate to succeed him.
If this appointment is confirmed, Bordeaux could host one of the very first high-stakes matches for ‘Zizou’ at the helm of the French team.
