In the Romand family, the passion for football is passed down from father to son. It all began in 1954 when Guy Romand got his first license at the age of 15 at the Mouzay club.

Fast, agile, elusive on his left wing, he quickly earned a nickname: “la pétrolette”. After starting at Mouzay, he continued his career at Dun before finishing in Stenay in 1989 at the age of 49. In 1987, a significant moment further sealed this family passion. He played alongside his son Fabrice, the father of Guillaume. “My father,” Guillaume recalls, “was in goal while my grandfather sped down the left wing.”

Guillaume Romand got his first license at just 6 years old at ASSM Stenay. He played there throughout his youth, including a Meuse Cup final in U13, under the guidance of his father who was the coach at the time. After a few seasons in Buzancy (08), he returned to Stenay as a goalkeeper before an injury ended his playing career. However, he couldn’t stay away from the field. He then became the club president for seven years before handing over the reins to the vice president Pierre-Olivier Pascual last year. Sylvie, his mother, also played a role in this family adventure by regularly running the refreshment stand.

Football has also been a part of the family beyond the local stadiums. Guillaume fondly recalls the many trips to Sedan with his parents. “My first match, I was in my mother’s belly,” he humorously recounts. This was followed by years of subscribing to CSSA, as well as experiencing two French Cup finals at the Stade de France with his father and grandfather.

All generations come together to support the team with Mathis, Guillaume’s son, ensuring the legacy. From a young age, playing with a ball in the garden or on the street, he shows the same passion. Licensed in Stenay since the age of 5, he primarily plays in midfield, sometimes as a goalkeeper. And when Guillaume, his father, Fabrice, and his grandfather Guy gather on the sidelines to cheer him on, four generations of football enthusiasts unite in the passion for the game.
