Regardless of the winner of this semi-final between PSG and Bayern Munich, they will have to overcome either Arsenal (the best defense in the competition) or Atletico Madrid (another defensive reference for years) in the final to win the Champions League. A challenging task indeed. However, the semi-final kicking off on Tuesday, April 28, at Parc des Princes feels like a final before its time, pitting European champions Paris against the formidable Bayern side that has impressed Europe since the beginning of the season.

A key number reflects the intensity of this clash: 38, the number of goals scored by each club, the top two attacks in the Champions League with Munich averaging 3.17 goals per match and Paris with 2.7 goals (having to go through playoffs unlike Munich). Both teams score a lot but also risk exposing themselves, with Bayern conceding 14 goals this season in European games, compared to PSG’s 17, falling short of Arsenal’s five goals conceded. “Paris is probably the most difficult challenge”, commented Bayern coach Vincent Kompany. In response, Harry Kane, the top scorer, said, “We are excited to face this challenge”, noting that both teams have “a very similar style of play”.

With the return of key players like Fabian Ruiz and Vitinha, PSG is gearing up to face Bayern Munich with a full squad. As the reigning champions, PSG aims to maintain their title and continue their strong performance. The upcoming match marks their third consecutive appearance in the Champions League semi-finals this season. They must harness all their strength to overcome Bayern Munich, a team historically formidable for PSG.

The clash promises to be intense, as both sides gear up to battle for a spot in the Champions League final in Budapest on May 30. Bayern Munich, the current German champions, have displayed impressive form, setting up a thrilling encounter against the defending champions PSG.
