A group of around fifty young people are taking part in a week-long event focusing on football, citizenship, and raising awareness about various everyday issues.

Since yesterday morning, during this first week of spring break, GFPLM is organizing the traditional “Citizen Footballers” workshop. Around fifty young people are registered, as stated yesterday morning by the structure’s president, Cody Soreau, during the welcome session. Divided into three age groups: “Brazil” for 8-10 year olds, “France” for 11-12 year olds, and “Spain” for 13-14 year olds, the young people are being supervised by club coaches trained by the French Football Federation and are also participating in various thematic workshops. For example, yesterday, the police intervened to discuss risky behaviors in public places.

Today, while the younger kids are learning about proper biking behaviors with the Castelnaudary “La roue qui tourne” bike school, cyberbullying will also be addressed with a specialist focusing on this topic for pre-teens and teenagers. Firefighters will also talk about first aid, and the Smictom from the western Aude will lead a green walk on the last day. The goal is to raise awareness about proper recycling habits and the consequences of inappropriate behaviors by adults at stadiums or other gatherings. The young people will realize the amount of trash scattered on the ground behind the stadium barriers or in the stands or near living areas. Finally, each participant will leave with a souvenir jersey and a certificate presented in the presence of parents and elected officials representing the three villages in the alliance.

Results from the weekend: – Women’s: OL Haut Minervois – GFPLM: 4-3; U15: Narbonne Montplaisir II – GFPLM: 8-1; U17: UF Lézignan – GFPLM: 3-1. Seniors: Bram III – OC Saint-André-de-Roquelongue: 1-1 (goal by Pascal Sas), Bram II – FC Lauquet: 3-1 (goals by Mickaël Roulleau, Nicolas Maddens, Yoan Blévin), Bram I – Pèzens: 0-3. The Pèzenois, leaders of the group, quickly took the lead and logically emerged victorious at the end of a match they largely dominated.
