The clash between PSG and Lyon, scheduled for Sunday evening as the final match of the 30th round of Ligue 1, will take place at the Parc des Princes without Lyon supporters. They have been banned from traveling by an order from the Ministry of the Interior.

Lyon ‘s supporters are prohibited from traveling to Paris for the match between PSG and Lyon at the Parc des Princes on Sunday (8:45 pm) for the 30th round of Ligue 1, according to an order from the Ministry of the Interior published in the Official Journal on Friday.

The order is motivated by the “violent behavior of some supporters,” both Parisian and Lyon, the regular clashes, as well as the risks “of injuries or damage” from fireworks. Any travel between the Rhône department and the Île-de-France region will therefore be prohibited on Sunday to “any person claiming to be a Lyon supporter or behaving as such.”

Several incidents involving Lyon supporters

The “antagonism” between PSG and Lyon supporters, whose relations have been “marked by animosity for many years,” is also mentioned by the ministry, which listed the numerous incidents involving Lyon or Parisian supporters in recent months.

In early March, clashes between supporters erupted in Vigo (Spain) a few hours before the Europa League match between Celta Vigo and Lyon, causing some minor injuries. Prior to the match between the Swiss club Young Boys of Berne and Lyon on January 22, “bladed weapons as well as combat sports protections were found in vehicles transporting Lyon supporters,” the order specifies.

The ministry considered that neither the established perimeter around the Parc des Princes nor the mobilization of law enforcement “would be sufficient to prevent these risks.”
