Paris Saint-Germain provided an update on the health status of Désiré Doué and Nuno Mendes, who were injured against Liverpool in the Champions League quarter-finals on Tuesday.
Thankfully, they are not expected to be sidelined for long. Doué and Mendes were respectively substituted in the 38th and 52nd minute during Paris Saint-Germain’s victory over Liverpool, and they are not yet ruled out for the upcoming match against Lyon on Sunday. PSG’s coach was not overly concerned following the win against Liverpool and mentioned that it was just a knock for Doué, indicating that Mendes needs further assessment.
The Parisian staff made timely substitutions to prevent more severe injuries. Doué suffered a knock to his right knee, and he will undergo treatment before returning to training. The players will have a break on Thursday and follow a specific training schedule ahead of the Lyon match. Mendes, on the other hand, has a minor issue with his right thigh and will undergo treatment and work in the gym for the next days.
It is likely that Doué has a better chance of featuring in the Lyon game than Mendes based on the club’s communication habits. Both players are expected to be fit for the Champions League semi-final against either Bayern Munich or Real Madrid on April 28 and May 6.
