This weekend, Blayais driver Paul Jouffreau is set to participate in two races with his Ford Mustang No. 3: 18 laps around the circuit, totaling 73 km on Saturday starting at 2:30 pm, and another 18 laps the following day at the same time (races will be broadcast live on YouTube NascarV8GP).
After Spain, the NASCAR V8GP championship will move to the Castellet circuit in France on May 23 and 24, then to Brands Hatch in the UK on June 6 and 7, Most in the Czech Republic on August 29 and 30, Vallelunga in Italy on September 19 and 20, and finally to Zolder in Belgium on October 17 and 18.
Paul Jouffreau is the driver to keep an eye on. He is climbing the ranks in motorsports, fully aware of the work to be done. His goal this year: the European NASCAR title.
Karting for the Basics
At 22 years old, with so much potential associated with his name, Paul Jouffreau began his career in karting in Biganos. He acknowledges the support he received from many individuals who helped him improve, mentioning key figures like Michel Fèvre and Michel Lesgourgues who worked on his kart mechanics for years. His father, Frédéric Jouffreau, played a crucial role in securing sponsors and budgets. Despite not chasing titles in karting, he was crowned the Ufolep French champion and Aquitaine vice-champion in 2018 in the 4-stroke category.
“Karting is important to learn the basics,” he adds. “But some of the guys I’m beating in NASCAR would have beaten me in karting.”
“Very Sharp Reflexes”
Paul Jouffreau then took a major step forward by joining the RDV Compétition team and winning 11 NASCAR races. “I loved that moment, entering the NASCAR program with a Ford Mustang equipped with a 450 CV V8 engine. It’s this feeling of ‘finally’: if I get results, win, and show my performance, I’ll go where I want – perhaps even to the 24 Hours of Le Mans. That’s what matters most, this security and perspective,” emphasizes the verbose driver.
