The Porto International Cup turns into a drama for the PSG Academy, where a young Parisian player fell victim to a violent assault.

The Porto International Cup, a U15 tournament held in Portugal, has sparked controversy for the PSG Academy. Several young Parisian players were subjected to racist insults, accompanied by monkey chants, emanating from both opponents and some parents in the stands, according to Unifoot.

In this context, Armand, a 13-year-old player from Montrouge, intervened to defend a teammate targeted by these behaviors. Still according to the media, the young player was subsequently violently attacked, requiring medical attention in Porto, where a broken nose was diagnosed, a fact confirmed by Le Parisien.

Facing the seriousness of the reported incidents, PSG decided to withdraw its team from the tournament, while also filing a complaint to shed light on the circumstances of the incident. Despite this episode, the competition reportedly continued.

In response, the Montrouge club expressed its support on social media for the young player and his family, as well as “all the young players affected by this situation,” condemning “with the utmost firmness the acts of racism and violence that occurred during the tournament.”

The club also praised the support provided by PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, who reportedly personally contacted the player and his family, according to Le Parisien. “We also want to thank the president of Paris Saint-Germain, Mr. Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, for the support given to our little player from Montrouge,” the statement said.
