Bastiaan’s absence during several dates of the Star Academy tour had raised many questions. The mystery is now resolved thanks to the revelations made by the production. The singer, revealed in the TF1 TV show, was injured during the filming of Fort Boyard. A misadventure which forced Victor’s crush to temporarily give up several concerts.
An injury on Fort Boyard at the origin of his absence
For several weeks, Bastiaan’s fans have been wondering about the reasons for his repeated absences during the Star Academy tour. The subject was finally clarified in the columns of Le Parisien. As the broadcast of the Toulon concert on TF1 approaches, Matthieu Grelier, president of BC11, the Endemol France subsidiary in charge of musical activities, returned to the circumstances which led to the cancellation of a performance in Dijon. He revealed that the young artist was injured during the filming of Fort Boyard. “That day, we had two artists who could not perform, Bastiaan, because he had sprained his ankle on the set of Fort Boyard,” he explained.
This injury had direct consequences on the progress of the tour. According to Matthieu Grelier, the design of the show did not allow certain performances to be maintained without significantly altering the quality of the show. “We should have lost certain performances and offered a shorter and lower quality concert,” he said. Faced with this situation, the production preferred to cancel the performance planned in Dijon. This decision made it possible to preserve the audience’s experience while giving the singer the necessary time to recover. An essential period of rest before considering a return to the stage in good conditions.
A gradual return after several missed concerts
Before the details of his injury were known, Bastiaan himself spoke about his state of health on Instagram. Last May, he announced to his subscribers that he would not be able to participate in the Geneva concert. Without revealing precisely the nature of his injury, he explained that his doctor had “expressly” recommended that he not go on stage in order to avoid any aggravation. Anxious to reassure his audience, the singer clarified, however, that there was “nothing serious”. Despite this reassuring message, he was forced to miss several important dates of the tour to promote his recovery. After several days of absence, Bastiaan finally returned to the stage during the concert organized in Bercy on May 20. To guarantee its safety, the production then adapted certain elements of the staging. Furthermore, the young artist was not the only member of the tour facing health problems. Anouk also announced her inability to participate in the performance planned in Dijon. Disappointed at not finding her audience, she shared her frustration on social networks. Faced with the simultaneous absence of the two academicians, the production chose to cancel the show and reimburse the spectators concerned.
