For two days, the tracks of l’UrbanPadel Marrakech host an unusual competition. Former international footballers, comedians, sports personalities and padel enthusiasts meet for the MBD Padel Cup. An event where conviviality occupies a central place, without ever making the spirit of competition disappear.
When padel brings together the universes
You just need to walk around the slopes to understand one of the great strengths of padel. In a few hours, we can see a world champion, a professional padel player, a comedian or even a figure in European football exchange.
This is precisely what emerged from the various interviews carried out throughout the event.
1998 world champion, Christian Karembeu explained that he wanted to “grow in this discipline”, proof that even the most successful athletes continue to approach padel with humility.
From son côté, Clément Grenierformer player of theOlympique Lyonnaissaid he discovered padel during his visit to Majorca and quickly got hooked on this sport which allows you to share moments of competition while maintaining a strong social dimension.
Même constat pour Javier Pastore, Ludovic Giuly or even Redouane Bougherabaall gathered in Marrakech with a common desire: to win, of course, but above all to share the track with people they would probably never have come across in their daily lives.
A formula that encourages everyone to play
The success of the MBD Padel Cup is also based on its format.
Unlike many events where certain teams are quickly eliminated, here, everyone continues to play and accumulate matches. Result: the matches continue from morning until late at night.
Some group meetings even fought until one in the morning, proof of the enthusiasm of the participants.
This formula also helps maintain competitive intensity. Because if the atmosphere remains relaxed off the slopes, the matches are taken very seriously as soon as the players enter the track.
As the competition progresses, eyes are now turning towards the two main draws: the MBD Champions League and theEuropa MBDwithout forgetting the women’s competition.

In an exceptional setting in the heart of Marrakech, the MBD Padel Cup once again demonstrates that padel has become much more than a simple cousin of tennis. A ground for meeting, sharing and competition which now attracts personalities from very different backgrounds.
Enough to give ideas to other organizers. Why not imagine, tomorrow, a similar event in the south of France?
