Three dates to tick off for movie buffs or local lovers. Tuesday 9, Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 June, the first feature film by Baptiste Kasprowicz, originally from Longwy, Victory and the Secret of the Lands of Meuse will be projected on the big screen of the Jean-Vilar cinema in Conflans-en-Jarnisy.

“Basically, our cinema is still very anchored in the diffusion of films for the general public, even very general public,” explains Thomas Carrasco, vice-president of the association in charge of the theater. “Being able to diversify and have local films and even a team presence is really something that is close to our hearts.” The Longovician behind the work will indeed come to meet the public during the last two broadcast slots.

“I have a close-up on my head”

At the beginning of June, the feature film, recorded in eight towns and villages in Meuse, reached the mark of 9,000 admissions. To stay in the numbers, 12 actors, 66 technicians and 300 extras took part in the filming. Among the latter, Audeline Brulant and her mother Laurence, both volunteers at the Conflans-en-Jarnisy cinema. Arnaud, the dad, was also part of the cast.

The meeting was given in Verdun, on August 16, 2024, from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. “It was a really nice first experience,” recalls the girl. “On the other hand, it was a little tiring because we had to run on the steps of the monument to Victory and the Soldiers of Verdun. And we did a lot of back and forth.” Behind each shoot there are anecdotes. Audeline still enjoys her mother’s “great fall”. “The director ran to see if she was okay. We took a break for her.” In the end, more laughter than harm.

“It made us want to do other castings”

The Brulant family was able to appreciate the final result in preview, but also and for the first time, see themselves on the other side of the screen. “It’s a bit strange, we’re not used to it. You can see me clearly, I have a close-up of my head,” smiles the volunteer. “It made us want to do more [des castings de figuration, N.D.L.R]. As soon as you see it, you will register. TO”
