A light drone show literally fell apart in Sydney after dozens of machines malfunctioned and fell into a pond in the center of the city, organizers said on Tuesday. No one was injured in the incident on Monday evening.
While a swarm of drones illuminated in red circled in the black sky of Sydney the previous evening representing the structure of DNA, dozens of machines suddenly fell, disfiguring the pattern and raising questions among spectators.
89 devices thus finished their course in the basin of the Darling Harbor district, indicated the company SkyMagic which operates this drone show, attributing the incident to a change in radio frequency.
According to the organizers, “unforeseen technical difficulties” forced them to also cancel the shows scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday as part of the Vivid Sydney festival, which each year deploys immersive outdoor installations and light projections, as well as exhibitions or concerts.
