Special evening this Friday, March 27th at the Cinémoviking in Saint-Lô: the Back To the Bobine film club and the Nanarland website are organizing a bad movie night.
The Last Dragon
This evening of March 27th will be dedicated to the screening of the film The Last Dragon, an 80s kung fu film produced by Motown, the music label of the Jackson Five, The Pointer Sisters, or Stevie Wonder.
The film’s description according to the film club: “Leroy is a young, shy, and innocent black man, but martial arts expert. A megalomaniac producer and a foolish gang leader, the ‘Shogun of Harlem,’ kidnap the woman of his dreams. The unfortunate souls…”.
The bad movie
The bad movie in the cinema is a unique world because it is never intended, it’s often very serious films at the core and that is probably what makes them so interesting for some.
“These are failed movies with often little budget but huge ambitions, it creates a comical gap. It’s so bad that it becomes a cult and amusing,” explains Bastien Marie, the president of Back To the Bobine.
For The Last Dragon, the film will be shown with French voices. “The dubbing is approximate,” explains Bastien, which according to him makes the work even funnier.
“The best of the worst”
This evening, dedicated to the “best of the worst” as Bastien puts it, will not be solely focused on The Last Dragon.
“We have planned a quiz and a compilation of excerpts from the best of the worst of cinema,” announces the association’s president.
A social gathering will conclude the evening, which should end around 11:30 PM.
Back to the bad movie, the special evening of the Back to the Bobine film club and Nanarland at the Cinémoviking in Saint-Lô on March 27th. 10 euros at the door, 6 euros for association members. The evening starts at 8:30 PM, reservations on the Cinémoviking website.
