We are thinking above all of the arrival, on Sunday May 31, of saxophonist Scott Hamilton, one of the last representatives of the sound of the 40s and 50s, of Coleman Hawkins or Lester Young on the swing side, of Dexter Gordon or Stan Getz on the bop side and of Gerry Mulligan on the cool jazz side. This American based in Italy joined the training of Michaël Cheret, another tenor saxophonist, for a rereading of jazzy French songs “Syracuse” or “Bormes-les-Mimosas” by Henri Salvador, “La Belle Vie” » by Sacha Distel, “What remains of our loves?” by Charles Trenet… Nothing very new, except that we no longer have the opportunity to hear this elegant and sophisticated jazz live so often in 2026.

Nine free concerts

The other big name is the Cuban pianist Rolando Luna, ex-Buena Vista Social Club, among others, who joined Laurent Coulondre’s trio The Getdown. An original piano-drums-Hammond organ group scheduled for June 6 in Cénac, which mixes jazz, funk and Latin music, while claiming the Debussy influence of Michel Petrucciani. It’s perfect for the start of summer.

Arcachon Basin: a month of music with the Musical Escapades

For its 17th edition, the traveling musical festival offers 15 concerts in 13 different locations in the Arcachon basin. The program was unveiled at the tip of Cap-Ferret, giving an overview of the talent of singers from the Escapades Opera Academy for the last evenings

And from this Saturday, May 30, Jazz360 is offering the trio of Jean-Marie Ecay, one of the electric guitarists who count in the French jazz landscape, known for his collaborations with Didier Lockwood, Billy Cobham and Claude Nougaro. He should express himself at the crossroads of bop, rock and bossa nova. Three paid concerts, everything else free, over a big week of music. The sweetness of life in Entre-deux-Mers will do the rest.
