With its end-of-year auditions, Anacrouse-AMAC highlights the progress of its students and the vitality of its music school.
On March 25, the first auditions dedicated to the flute, saxophone and drums took place, in the presence of around forty people, the students concerned and their teachers: Léonor Pereira, professor of musical training and saxophone, Jean-Baptiste Poplin, professor of drums, and Philippe Cazes, flute teacher. Saturday April 25, the music school continued its program with guitar auditions, still in its premises in Passage.
Auditions are always an important moment for students, because they allow them to confront a caring audience – most often family –, to gain self-confidence, to learn to manage stage fright and to promote the work carried out throughout the year with their teacher, Jean-Claude Dupoux, in this case.
Thirteen young guitarists in harmony
Every Saturday afternoon, Jean-Claude supervises his guitar students during a collective workshop during which the pieces are adapted to the level and possibilities of each person. After initial work devoted to posture, reading scores and mastering their instrument, musicians learn to listen to each other and play in harmony. For this audition, there were thirteen of them, between eight and sixteen years old, the youngest having only two years of practice. For more than an hour the young guitarists performed different pieces in pop jazz and classical styles, under the watchful eye and attentive ear of their teacher. The audition ended with a well-deserved snack, a buffet consisting of pastries, homemade popcorn, sweets and various drinks.
Musical events until the holidays
The auditions will now continue until the school holidays: piano, trumpet and drums on May 20 and 23 at Le Passage, June 6 for the jazz workshop at Blue Fox Coffee in Agen, before ending with the end-of-year general audition which will take place on June 10 at the Estillac shared hall.
As its president likes to point out, through these numerous auditions and other artistic meetings, Anacrouse-Amac confirms its dynamism and the influence of its activities well beyond Passage, throughout the canton.
