A music school in Vendée on borrowed time: “if no volunteers commit, dissolution will be voted on”

It is a true cry from the heart that those responsible for the Music Workshop are launching. Lack of volunteers to take over the management of the Tempo association, the music school could permanently close its doors at the next school year. A last chance general meeting is called for May 21.

Succès pedagogique

The observation is paradoxicalalmost cruel. While the music school in no way denies its dynamismson existence hangs by a thread. Installed in new, perfectly equipped premises within the cultural and associative center, the Tempo association is attractive. “There is great potential in La Ferrière! » enthuses François Guilloteau, one of the managers.

We currently have fifty students, which is more than last year. The karaoke section, in particular, is experiencing growing success.

Governance crisis

However, behind the faultless score of courses and attendance, the administrative mechanism jams. For several years, the association has been going through a governance crisis sans précédent.

Already narrowly saved five years ago by the duo Pat Dumoulin and Frédérik Fouchard, the structure faltered again in September 2024 when the latter left.

Despite a burst of good will, sustainability is no longer assured. The school is in survival mode.

The impasse

Today, the current team is reaching the end of its commitment.

Without new members to constitute a Bureau, with a President, a treasurer and a secretary, the association will no longer be able to function.

We want to be transparent: if no new volunteers sign up, the dissolution will be voted on and the school will close permanently.

Those responsible for Tempo

The consequences of such an outcome would be serious. This will mean an immediate cessation of classes from the next school year, the dismissal of teachers, the dispersal of equipment and the abandonment of a local cultural project.

The last chance meeting

“The survival of this structure now depends solely on your implication “, the Tempo hosts tell the audience.

An associative music school is a common good which cannot exist without the active participation of the families who benefit from its services.

The board of directors therefore calls on all residents, parents of students and culture enthusiasts to mobilize massively. The agenda of the meeting will be straightforward. Either new candidates emerge to take up the torch, or the end of the adventure will be recorded by a vote.
