The Spanish quartet Helmántica, composed of four talented artists, will perform a free concert at Hanoi Cathedral as part of the classical music program “Echoes of tradition: from Bohemia to Spain.”
This event, organized by the Spanish Embassy in Vietnam, invites the audience to explore how folklore and national identity have inspired European chamber music.
The program includes classical works by Joaquín Turina, Antonín Dvořák, and Manuel de Falla, marking the 150th anniversary of Falla’s birth (1876-1946). These compositions illustrate how Spanish composers, influenced by European music, experienced a pivotal moment when their music shone worldwide, asserting its unique identity through a variety of sounds and aesthetics.
In celebration, the Vietnam National Academy of Music will host a concert by the Helmántica group on May 9, along with additional activities like a masterclass and a meeting with the academy’s teachers and students.
The Helmántica Quartet consists of the following artists: Marc Olió (violin), Claudia Do Minh (viola), Lorenzo Meseguer (cello), and Alberto Rosado (piano).
