Jack Ryan: Ghost War Will Not Be Released in Theaters, Neither in France Nor Anywhere Else

It’s a first in 36 years.

In 1990, Jack Ryan, the hero imagined by Tom Clancy in his novels, made his debut in the cinema portrayed by Alec Baldwin. Subsequently, Harrison Ford took on the character in Clear and Present Danger and The Sum of All Fears (1992 and 1994), then Ben Affleck wore the CIA analyst suit in The Sum of All Fears (2002), before Chris Pine took over with Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit (2014).

But for its sixth official film, Jack Ryan will not have a theater release.

Amazon announces that Jack Ryan: Ghost War will premiere directly on Prime Video on May 20, 2026, worldwide, including in France.

This decision makes sense as the film is a direct continuation of the four seasons of the series led by John Krasinski. He also reprises his role alongside Wendell Pierce and Michael Kelly. Sienna Miller also joins the cast in the role of MI6 agent Emma Marlowe.

Directed by Andrew Bernstein, with a screenplay by Aaron Rabin and John Krasinski, Jack Ryan: Ghost War also unveils its trailer.
