The parking lot of the company MJ2 Technologie quickly filled up on the morning of Friday, March 20, during the Open Factory Days in which the manufacturer of hydroelectric equipment was participating.
At 9 am, Martin Rey, one of the 6 executives of the company, kicked off this dynamic morning by welcoming job seekers from France travail Millau and Clermont-l’Hérault, before being joined by school visitors and the general public. The group of 16 people that came together during the morning was able to explore in detail the different components that make up the equipment produced on the site. “We pass by regularly but we don’t know what goes on here,” the visitors repeated in unison. Bearings, valves, hubs, electromagnetic fields, generators, blades, by the end of the tour of the stations, machines, and storage areas, the professional vocabulary held no secrets for the participants. Over a snack provided by the company, they were able to ask the final questions, particularly about the Creissels and Troussy sites, and the content of the annual order book which includes orders for new equipment as well as maintenance contracts for existing installations.
Discovery of expert professions in the region
Established in La Cavalerie since April 1, 2004, the company, which was bought by three of its executives in 2023, has continued to evolve since then. At the time of the purchase, its roadmap was based on a desire to relocate part of its production to France and work with local suppliers to improve quality and communication. The challenge has been met since the company now mainly surrounds itself with local actors: Aveyron, Tarn, Ariège, Rhône at the farthest, with the exception of magnets for which it sources from China due to a lack of manufacturing solution in France. By participating in the Open Factory Days event, led by the Society of Engineers in Arts and Crafts and its partners, including the Millau CCI, their involvement helps to showcase a modern, innovative, and responsible industry, attentive to ecosystems. Men, women, and future students were able to discover the content of these diverse, qualifying, and accessible professions at all levels. Sensitizing to industrial waste, compliance with standards, and safety equipment, the professionals of the country’s leading source of renewable electricity, often underestimated, convinced and debunked preconceived ideas during this time of sharing.
