On Saturday, April 18, in the town of Saint-Médard-Nicourby, the municipal hall L’Escale was decorated to welcome the voters of the commune. The mayor, Jean-Marie Roussiès, who was re-elected for a 6th consecutive term, expressed his agreement with gender parity in all municipalities but disagreed with the new voting system that prohibits any mix of candidates. This led to a 26% invalid ballot rate, compared to 0% in 2020, which he believes reflects voter dissatisfaction.
The mayor pledged, along with his team, to remain attentive to all local associations that currently have a welcoming and functional hall, which has given rise to a new association called ‘Asso L’Escale’. The restoration of the church received significant subsidies that allowed for quality work. The communal land hopes to welcome new residents.
Jean-Marie Roussiès then congratulated Lauriane Lehmann, a new member of his team who recently moved with her family to the Carbonnières hamlet. He also thanked Aurore Carsac for her involvement in the previous term and was pleased with her election as deputy to Christian Roussiès, who was re-elected to that position.
Finally, he thanked Etienne Thibault for stepping down due to gender parity requirements and introduced Cléa Thibault, the youngest resident of the town at just two months old. This is seen as a promising sign for the future and prosperity of the upcoming term for this community, which is nearing 100 residents.
